Second Saturday comes alive! Next event - June 8
So much to see and do...

The Collings at The LumberYard, a new luxury apartment community located at 588 North Atlantic Ave will host a headline art exhibit during Collingswood’s Second Saturday event on Saturday, June 8.

The photography exhibit includes a selection of photographs from Classic Towns embodying the Colllingswood lifestyle on display throughout the model home during that time. The photo exhibit is part of a touring gallery show with  the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission’s “I Love Classic Towns” photo contest. The photographs highlight the many reasons to love life in the classic towns of Greater Philadelphia, including Collingswood. The exhibit will also showcase photography works from local artists as well.

For music lovers, Trio Nova will perform from 6 to 9 p.m., in front of the community’s model apartment home. Trio Nova’s unique sound includes bossa nova, jazz, pop and original numbers. Guitarist Pete Devine, bassist Mike Vogelmann and drummer/percussionist Kris Rudzinski take an eclectic approach with a fusion of styles and instrumentation.

Second Saturday was started by a collection of store owners that had an interest in promoting the arts in Collingswood. Each month visitors can plan a night on the town to experience the unique arts, music, shopping and dining Collingswood is known for. As always, Second Saturdays are free and there are local artists and musicians on each block.

The Factory, 13 Fern Avenue - Check out The Factory from 6:30pm-10pm.  FINDING WESTERLY and FRANK CERVANTES playing live with local artists displaying their work:  National Picnic displaying her Women's Clothing Line & Black Locust showcasing Jewelry, as well as others!  The Kids Factory will be set up for free arts and crafts!  Free refreshments!

If you are an artist or musician that would like to participate in 2nd Saturday, see below to find out how to display your work. You do not need to email event organizers to register for the event. Participation is free and no preregistartion is needed. Directions to participate are below.

This monthly arts event, now under the umbrella of Collingswood Partners, Inc., has turned into one of the more popular town events and grows every month with new artists and participating store locations.  Established in 2004, Second Saturday Collingswood is an exciting event designed to expose local artists and musicians to the many residents and visitors of Collingswood and the surrounding area.  Each month visitors can plan a night on the town to experience the unique arts, music, shopping and dining Collingswood is known for. As always, Second Saturdays are free. Just visit Collingswood, stroll and enjoy the culture - on us.

For Artists: Each artist is responsible for placing themselves along Haddon Avenue for the event.  Set up anywhere on along Haddon Avenue on the sidewalk, make sure you leave enough room for pedestrians to pass on the sidewalk, and get permission from the business (if they are open) that you are in front of to set up.  Many of you have spots that you generally set up in but we want to stress that all spots along the avenue are available on a first come, first serve basis.  If you are unfamiliar with Haddon Avenue we generally recommend choosing a location between Fern Ave and E. Knight Ave on either side of the street. Powell Avenue at the Lumberyard is also available for artists.  Set up begins at 5pm and the event runs from 6-9pm.  Each artist is responsible for easels, tables, chairs, equipment and for setting-up their stations. Locations are available outside most stores, restaurants and public buildings. We can not accommodate tents at this time.

Displays should be art or craft based, handmade works – we do not accept vendors or resale for this event.

Come on out on the Second Saturday of every month (weather permitting) between 6-9pm, it is a great way to show your work, commission-free and in a fantastic street fair atmosphere.  Now that the weather is warm, many people stroll the avenue late into the evening.

For Musicians: Music performances are a very popular part of the 2nd Saturday event. This is a great way for upcoming groups and musicians to gain exposure. Music performances are non-paying. You are encouraged to leave a tip jar, which has been very successful for most musicians. We ask all artists and musicians to invite friends, family and art-lovers to come out!. If a performer or group interested in performing, please contact Music Chairman Sam Caruso at secondsatmusic@aol.com.  NOTE:  In order to avoid drowning out neighboring music, musicians MUST be booked through Sam Caruso.  If you are not a scheduled musician for the evening, we will ask you to leave.
