13 Jul 2017 - 10:00pm
Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd - the dark, witty thriller by Stephen Sondheim. Winner of eight Tony Awards, this tale of love, murder and revenge set in 19th century London will be presented by Collingswood Community Theatre on July 12, 13 and 14 in the Ballroom of the Scottish Rite.

This "tasty" theatrical treat has shocked, awed and stunned audiences in many revivals since the Tony-winning performance and the film version starring Johnny Depp. CCT's version will star CJ Kish as the sinister barber of Fleet Street, Lisa Kain Marcelli as the charming pie shop owner Mrs. Lovett and Ryan Adams as the villanious Judge Turpin as well as a talented ensemble representing the worst denizens of London's streets.

An infamous tale, Sweeney Todd, an unjustly exiled barber, returns to nineteenth century London, seeking vengeance against the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. The road to revenge leads Todd to Mrs. Lovett, a resourceful proprietress of a failing pie shop, above which he opens a new barber practice. Mrs. Lovett's luck sharply shifts when Todd's thirst for blood inspires the integration of an ingredient into her meat pies that has the people of London lining up...and the carnage has only just begun! With some of the most chilling music ever written for the stage, this masterpiece is sure both to thrill and delight audiences.
