Saturday, December 11 – Second Saturday!
The festive lights will make for an extra special Second Saturday event on Dec. 11 starting at 5 p.m. As always, the evening of art and entertainment will host artists, crafters and musicians at studios, galleries, coffee houses and retail shops. The event shines in December with the theme of Christmas in a Classic Town. Experience art, demonstrations, performances and exhibits at several locations along Haddon Ave. Also, Hotsy Totsy will be strolling the Avenue singing!
Parade of Lights, Friday, December 10, 7:30 p.m.
Continuing in tradition, fire trucks and floats strung in glittering lights will drive from Zane Ave. to Homestead Ave. (at the Collingswood post office, 970 Haddon Ave) for the Parade of Lights on Friday, Dec. 11 at 7:30. Collingswood’s Fire Department and civic organizations will come decorated and ready to represent their groups. Trucks will compete for top honors and prizes. Santa will follow on the last truck to greet children and spectators and send season’s greetings. Organizations that would like to be involved can call the Collingswood Fire Department at 856-854-1043. Hotsy Totsy will be strolling the Avenue singing from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Holiday Shopping
Collingswood Partners, Inc. is again working to put together a beautiful shopping streetscape on the Avenue. There are extended shopping hours every Friday and Saturday in December and parking is free in the downtown throughout December to make shopping a breeze. Haddon Avenue in Collingswood is decked out with an estimated 500,000 lights so visitors and residents can shop in a winter wonderland and find just the right gifts for underneath the tree. And the word is it will definitely snow in Collingswood.

The holidays in Collingswood kicked off Friday, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. when Santa descends from atop Borough Hall by way of the Collingswood Fire Department’s ladder truck – just in time for the Borough’s official Tree Lighting Ceremony. Choral groups will sing as the town tree is lit up with twinkling lights and season’s greetings are made by Mayor Jim Maley and Commissioners Joan Leonard and Mike Hall. The trees along Haddon and Collings Avenue business districts will glow with hundreds of thousands of lights. Storefronts will also sparkle with garland and lights set up in beautiful holiday displays.
Get your spots early the next morning, Sat., Nov. 27, for the 22nd annual holiday parade, themed “Musical Notes and Holiday Floats.” The parade committee has worked for months organizing floats, special guests and sponsors to make the parade bigger and better than ever.
The parade, packed out with bands, dancers, entertainers, floats and more, will begin at Zane Ave. at 10 a.m. and continue to West Linden Ave., through the heart of historic Collingswood. Cars from the Original Garden State Corvette Club and dozens of other antique and historic autos and motorcycles will drive down the parade route. The Phillie Phantic and other Philadelphia sports mascots will ride along also. Dance to marching bands, Mummers, string bands and oldies tunes to keep warm. Be sure to pour your cocoa early to get a good spot.
