Updates from Mayor Maley:

3:45pm - Clean-up after our discourteous, but not rude, guest Irene will continue for a few days. If thee are any dangerous condition, please let us know. Feel free to email me ay jmaley@collingswood.com with any issues. Be careful and observant with trees. The ground is extraordinarily wet and the winds could uproot trees as well as dislodge branches. If anything else significant occurs, we will update here but things look to be on a clean-up course. A word of thanks to all Borough personnel. We were prepared with a strong defense and it scared away the offense. Make sure you thank them all whenever you see them - it matters. thanks to residents for being smart and safe.

1:15pm - Couple of neighborhoods have lost power and we are working with PSEG to try to get it restored. Fire Dept has evacuated one house along Cooper River. Few more trees have fallen and lots of debris to be cleaned up but all in all Irene has been kind. Her effects will still be felt in the next day or so but things look stable.

9:30am - Looks like we have a sewer main break at Cattell and Harrison. Our crews are on site and setting up some diverting lines. Should not affect your service. Again, roads are flooding on a spot basis without much warning so play a board game - at home.

8am - Haddon Avenue is flooding at the underpass below Rte. 130. Flood areas pop up very quickly in places we are not accustomed to see. Please stay off the roads.

7:45am - This is what we mean when we ask to please stay home. In the Pavilion at Cooper River, that is a man standing on a picnic bench unable to get out. So Fire Department now has to do a marine rescue. Please stay home.

Irene Cooper River flood

6:45am - The State DOT has advised us they are not responding to calls until the storm is over. So our equipment/supplies have been exhausted. We have used all our cones and barriers so there are certainly roads that are impassable but not blocked off. Please stay off the roads even though the street outside your house may look clear.

5am - DPW, Police and Fire have been working all night to clear debris. Few trees have come down but, keep your fingers crossed, the worst winds are due to arrive in the next few hours. Route 130 and most major roadways are either completely closed or partially closed so most routes are impassable. Please stay off the roads today. Thanks. You can email me with any questions or requests at jmaley@collingswood.com
