LET'S GO GREEN TOGETHER!

Join us for our annual green resources event. Whether you are an eco-friendly expert or just getting started on your own green initiatives, the Collingswood Green Day provides opportunities and resources to support you on your journey to sustainable living.

Stop by and enjoy refreshments and live music with your neighbors and learn more about living greener! 

PLEASE NOTE: The Camden County Hazardous Waste drop-off will be held separately on April 13, 2024. This event will not be held on the same day as the annual Green Festival on April 20, as it has been in prior years. The County’s Hazardous Waste Collection will be held as a standalone event on April 13 from 8:30am to 3pm at 713 N Atlantic Ave. Please do not bring hazardous materials to the Green Day Event on April 20. HERBS, PLANTS, & FLOWERS
Get your garden started with plant sales including pollinator kits from Wild Roots, plants from the Community Garden, and Collingswood High School's Greenhouse plant sale.  More info can be found here.

PLANT TREES
Trees clean the air, prevent soil erosion, and stormwater run-off. attract birds and increase your home's value. Stop by and get your discounted trees and shrubs. A limited supply of free tree saplings will also be available.

 DISCOUNTED COMPOSTERS & RAIN BARREL SALES

The yearly sale is back! Sponsored by the Borough and Sustainable Collingswood, Collingswood residents have the opportunity to purchase discounted compost bins and rain barrels online and pick them up on Saturday, April 20 at the Collingswood Green Day event. The composter and/or rain barrel must be pre-paid prior to pick up. If you are a Collingswood resident and are interested in purchasing a composter or rain barrel, complete the Google form here.

  • Composters: The Earth Machine Compost Bin has an 80-gallon capacity and is made with 50% recycled plastic and provides a convenient way to keep food & yard waste out of the waste stream. This is North America’s #1 selling backyard compost bin because it features snap-together construction, an off-set retrieval door, 4 anchor pegs to secure the unit to the ground, a locking lid and a “how-to guide. Cost is $50.
  • Rain Barrels: Conserve water and cut household water bills with a backyard rain barrel. Rainwater, free from chlorine and water treatment chemicals, is an excellent choice for watering for lawns, plants and gardens. Our 55-gallon barrel comes with an overflow hose and spigot and features a fine mesh lid to keep debris from getting in and mosquitos from getting out. Cost is $60.
RECYCLING
Electronics Collection: 9 am to 2 pm
Latex-Based Paint Collection: The Borough puts your unused paint to work for projects in town. Drop off cans with usable paint in them at our recycle tent. 
Collingswood Police Department will also be hosting a medication collection at 30 W. Collings Ave, the Collingswood Community Center. Bring your unwanted and unneeded medications to the Community Center from 10am to 2 pm.  Any questions contact Agent Christopher Rodgers at crodgers@collingswood.com
Paper Shredding, sponsored by the Camden County Board of Commissioners: 9 am to 12 pm
  • Limit of 3 standard paper storage boxes (same size as copy paper comes in) or garbage bags.
  • Attendees can bring their documents in bags, boxes, or any other container. We will empty their documents into the bin for shredding and return their container.
  • No need to remove staples, paper clips, or even the file folders with the metal strip through them.
  • Please make sure that there are no plastics - CDs, DVDs, x-rays, hard drives, 3 ring binders, binder clips, or anything else mixed in (paper ONLY).
BIKE SHARE
Biking is more popular than ever as people look for opportunities to get out and enjoy the outdoors. You can rent a bike for just $25 per year-what a deal! 

GREEN TEAM GRAB AND GO EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS
Visit the Green Team and other organizations tables to pick up educational materials. Learn how to save water, protect wild-life, sustainable lawn and garden care, reduce pollution, and other sustainable lifestyle hacks!
