Luckily, Collingswood has made it easy and fun by rounding up more than 70 ways for you to be well in just one week. Collingswood is offering a week's worth of fitness and whole health events from April 10 to April 15, 2017. All events are $5 or less and many are free.

Offerings range from screenings and wellness checks, group activities like community biking, fitness classes and seminars from doctors and experts. Each weeknight will also have a “featured event” at the Community Center at 6:30 p.m. – a free, community style class on a broad range of topics.

Wellness Week 2017 highlights:
Car seat checks (April 15, 9-11am, Collingswood Police Department, free): It is estimated that about 80 percent of car seats are misused, either because a child is in the wrong seat, the seat is installed wrong, or the child is not placed in the seat correctly. Attend a Child Passenger Safety Inspection hosted by Cooper University Hospital, where parents and caregivers can ensure that they are using the appropriate child safety seat or safety belt correctly. Rain or shine.

Mayor’s Walk (April 12, 8am, Knight Park, free): Join Mayor James Maley for a morning stroll around Collingswood’s beautiful Knight Park. Enjoy some community discussion and fresh air. The Mayor will host monthly walks the first Tuesday of the month to chat with residents while exercising. Walk begins at the Harrison Avenue entrance on Browning Road, weather permitting.

Right in Our Back Yard – The Drug Addiction Epidemic in Suburbia Seminar (April 13, 6:30pm, Collingswood Community Center, free): Presented by the Camden County Addition Task Force, a dialogue with experts that shines a light on the prevalence of addiction issues, shares warning signs and offers safe and acceptable ways to seek guidance and help.

Virtual Supermarket Tour (April 13, 6:30, Collingswood Community Center, free): Cooper University Hospital dietitian explains how to best navigate your grocery store to make the healthiest choices.

Other highlights include: spinning, Pilates and fitness classes, yoga workshops, stress seminars, senior events, family events, game night seminar, Zumba, screenings,  community stroller walks, chair massage, physician presentations, dance classes and many other wellness related events all provided at low-to-no-cost.  Collingswood’s Wellness Week brings together more than a dozen participating businesses and organizations to provide dozens of events that encourage wellness in its community. "Wellness is definitely a priority in Collingswood,” said Commissioner Joan Leonard who, as a practicing occupational hand therapist, is also hosting a free hand strength checkup, postural analysis, and blood pressure screening event. “This creates so many opportunities to support and encourage a community that is better cared for and more knowledgeable about health.”
